I learned the game by trying to understand why it worked.

I was never the player who relied on raw skill alone.

I was always trying to understand why one option created a better chance than another, why certain plays kept working, and what separated good decisions from bad ones.

That instinct eventually led me from playing into coaching.

Over the years, I coached players across club, high school, and Major U18 hockey. I could often see patterns in the game, but seeing them and explaining them clearly are different skills.

Modern hockey analytics gave those patterns better language.

Modern video and telestration tools gave me a better way to show them.

xG Hockey brings those two things together.

Use data to identify the pattern.

Use video to make it visible.

Use simple coaching cues to make it usable.

That’s the idea behind xG Hockey.

Why xG Hockey now?

Hockey evaluation is changing.

More games are being recorded. More video can be watched from anywhere. More aspects of the game can be reviewed, organized, and measured after the fact.

That creates an opportunity for players.

If more of the game can be evaluated, more of the game can also be taught.

xG Hockey exists to help players understand what good hockey looks like before those habits become part of an evaluation.

More than the next roster spot.

Hockey careers are short. A connection to the game does not have to be.

Players I’ve coached have gone on to work in professional sports, including roles in hockey analytics and sports law.

The point isn’t that every player should work in hockey. It’s that curiosity about the game can lead somewhere valuable even after competitive playing ends.

xG Hockey is built for players who want to understand the game more deeply — and get more from the time they have in it.
